Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Chelsea target Kostas Manolas, according to reports
According to Whoscored.com, the Gunners have moved ahead of their rivals in the pursuit of the Greek defender after reports that Roma are considering a summer sale of Manolas and could do a deal worth around £47 million.
The 25-year-old defender has been monitored by Chelsea as Antonio Conte continues to search for defensive reinforcements to his current squad.
It is understood that Roma wants to cash in on the defender despite refusing to do business earlier and was close to tying him to a new deal but have now changed their mind with suggestions that Serie A side will need to sell a player in order to satisfy Financial Fair Play regulations.
Reports in Italy have it that Manolas has also set sights on leaving the club after being frustrated at his contract situation despite his current deal running till end of the 2019 season.
Arsenal have a quite a number of options at the back but might lose Per Mertsacker who has been sidelined due to injuries and presence of other stars in the central defence for the Gunners.
However, Chelsea could still return for Manolas since the Gunners have not agreed a deal with Roma which leaves the deal still negotiable.
