According to latest reports, Spanish champions Real Madrid are preparing to lure Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho into selling his side’s goalkeeper David De Gea by offering Madrid star player Raphael Varane in return.
Raphael Varane is one of Zinedine Zidane’s star players.
However, rumours stated that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has no intention of losing the France international centre-half, and could overrule his manager.
The 23-year-old is seen as an ‘untouchable’ player in Zinedine Zidane’s team at Madrid, but Perez’ is determined to lure De Gea from Manchester United however.
A Spanish news outlet known as Don Balon stated that a swap deal involving David De Gea and Raphael Varane is seen as the ideal solution at Madrid.
Apparently, the president will use Jose’s admiration of Raphael Varane as a gateway to land his first-choice goalkeeper
It was Jose Mourinho who brought the defender into the Madrid club from Lens when he was still boss at the Madrid in 2011.
And Raphael since arriving Spain, has gone from strength to strength and forged a partnership with Spanish star Sergio Ramos.
It was also added that Perez already knows that the Old Trafford club will not agree to settle for goalkeeper Keylor Navas as a like-for-like replacement for De Gea – despite coming so close to securing that deal in the summer of 2015.
David De Gea signed a new deal in 2015 at Old Trafford, and obviously many Manchester United faithfuls won’t want him to go.
And even though Chelsea goalie Thibaut Courtois has also been linked with Real Madrid, ex-Atletico Madrid star De Gea seems to be the preferred choice.
Florentino admitted in September that Mourinho made an approach for Varane at Manchester United last summer. And since the La Liga leaders are prepared to let go of him, it was added that Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Marquinhos is Raphael’s favourite replacement the club.
