Not Fabregas, Chelsea has the best midfielder in the World – Gus Poyet

Former Chelsea star Gustavo Poyet has disclosed that Frenchman N’Golo Kante is undoubtedly the best midfielder in world football.

Since joining the English top-flight league, the defending midfielder has become the only player to win successive Premier League titles with different sides after Eric Cantona back in 1993.

It is not a coincidence that Leicester City and Chelsea won the Premier League crown with Kante in the squad, winning such crown as twice being named in the PFA team of the year, including winning the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and English Premier League Player of the Season.

Whilst sidelined due to a hamstring problem earlier this season, the Premier League Champions had to cope without him for sometimes, losing to bottom side Crystal Palace and Italian Serie A side AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League.

The Blues are already nine points adrift Pep Guardiola tutored Manchester City side, with Ngolo Kante playing most of the matches, including defeats to leaders Manchester City and the surprise 3-2 defeat on the first day of the campaign to Burnley.

However, Chelsea bosses, such as Portuguese Jose Mourinho, Italian Carlo Ancelotti and now coach Antonio Conte, always seem to lose something after securing the league title, which Gus Poyet spoke about via The Standard.

He described winning the Premier League title as contacting a virus – when you are a League Champions, every other club wants to kill you.

Although the Blues aren’t replicating their last season form, they are still performing considerably well in Europe.
