The Chilean boss spent three years at the Etihad and won three major trophies — including a Premier League title in his first season. Before moving to England, Pellegrini established himself as a top level boss following a successful ten-year period in Spain. He established Villarreal as a relative force in Europe by leading them to the Champions League semi-finals and quarter-finals. Pellegrini moved to Real Madrid in 2009 and signed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso. The 96 points amassed in La Liga that season were not enough to overhaul Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona who were crowned champions, finished on 99. Pellegrini was ruthlessly sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho after just one season at the … [Read more...]
AC Milan sets sight on former Manchester City coach
AC Milan will set their priority on a winning and experience gaffer in their search for a new coach, as indicated by the club’s latest link to former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini. After being unpleasantly snubbed by their primary target Unai Emery, who is set to continue his career at Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain , the Rossoneri continue their search for international talent and have set their sight on the 62-year-old Chilean. It is reported that both vice-president Adriano Galliani and the impending Chinese investors have approved of Pellegrini, for whom the 1-1 draw at Swansea City in mid-May was the last official game on the Citizens’ bench with Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola set to replace him after the summer. For three years at the … [Read more...]

Manchester City chief believes the club will attain new heights under Pep
Pep Guardiola will take Manchester City to a "whole new level," according to the club's chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. The former Bayern Munich manager will start his three-year reign at The Etihad on July 1 and Khaldoon believes the club are getting possibly the best manager in the world. Owner Sheikh Mansour has pumped hundreds of millions of pounds into the club he bought in 2008 and in that time City have won two Premier League titles and three domestic trophies. The hope is that Guardiola can now bring the sort of dominance he enjoyed at Bayern -- and previous club Barcelona -- to the Etihad. He won six league titles in his seven years with the two clubs as well as four domestic cups and two Champions League titles during his time at the Nou Camp. "I … [Read more...]
Inter not in a rush to sign Manchester City Midfielder Yaya Toure
Piero Ausilio insisted Inter are interested in Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, but the Serie A side are in no rush to push through a deal. Chinese investors Suning Commerce Group are set to purchase a majority 70 per cent stake from Inter president Erick Thohir. And as the two parties complete the new ownership structure, Inter director Ausilio said the club's pursuit of 33-year-old Toure is not a priority at the moment. After six seasons at the Etihad Stadium and with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola to take charge in 2016-17, Toure is tipped to leave with a year remaining on his contract. Ilkay Gundogan gives encouraging injury report after Manchester City move
City have gone ahead with the £21m deal with Borussia Dortmund despite the fact midfielder Gundogan dislocated his knee cap towards the end of last season to rule himself out of Euro 2016. But the 25-year-old player - who also missed a year with a back injury while with Dortmund - has re-assured City that although he will miss the first month of the season he expects to be fully fit by the beginning of September and they are not taking a gamble. He said: “I had a dislocated patella. It happened in training but it’s not as bad as it sounds. A ligament was also stretched and so they operated on it. Now I need to rest and then I hope that at the end of August or start of September I’ll be back on the field and starting a new chapter. “We have to look from … [Read more...]
