Arsene Wenger Reveals What He Told His Players Ahead Of Liverpool Clash

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he told his players to start strongly against Liverpool if they are to have to a good game on Saturday.

The Gunners have not been too convincing in the recent weeks, which have raised concerns about their usual slump mid-season. Wenger has warned his stars about starting the game strongly due to the intensity nature of the clash.

He said: “It’s always high intensity, very competitive.

“Anfield is a special place, always, where the fans are behind their team and the team plays at a good pace.

“For us, after a little break, it’s important to switch on quickly.

“We have seen that’s not easy – Liverpool have shown that against Leicester.

“After a break, it’s important you are ready from the start. For us, it’s vital to start strongly at Liverpool.”

“This is an opportunity we have to go and take, not wait for the result. We have to start on a positive attitude. It is always high intensity, and very competitive. Anfield is a special place where the fans are behind their team”.

Liverpool have also performed below par in recent weeks and even lost 3-1 to struggling Leicester City in their last outing in the Premier League. But they might bank on the previous encounter with the Gunners which saw them record an impressive victory against them in the first game of the season, beating 4-3 at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger can only hope his stars make use of their extended break in the Premier League after their game against Southampton was postponed due to Saints involvement in the EFL Cup final with Manchester United last Sunday.
