Arsenal are ready to beat Manchester United to the signature of Real Madrid midfielder, James Rodriguez, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has been a subject of interest from several clubs in Europe after falling down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu under Zinedine Zidane who has preferred other options to the midfielder.

Manchester United are understood to be the front-runners in a potential deal with reports that Jose Mourinho wants to land James Rodriguez this summer and even asked for the Colombian in a swap deal for David De Gea, but it appears the interest has cooled off.

Reports in El Chiringuto have it that Arsenal has launched a massive approach for the midfielder which is believed to be the highest from any club.

The report also have it that Italian giants, Inter Milan have also made a bid for Rodriguez but was deemed too small for the midfielder leaving Arsenal has the frontrunners in a possible move for the midfielder.

James Rodriguez also hinted at a possible move away from Santiago Bernabeu last December, fuelling reports that the former AS Monaco star will join Manchester United last January, although the move fell through as Real were not ready to cash in on the player.
