Spanish champions Barcelona have completed the signing of Antoine Griezmann from fellow La Liga club Atletico Madrid.

His transfer was confirmed earlier on Friday after the Catalan giants paid the €120m (£107m) release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract.

The French international player has signed a five-year deal with Barcelona until the end of the 2023/24 season.

This halts an almost two-year transfer saga involving Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Antoine Griezmann was linked with a move to Barcelona and Manchester United last summer but he went on to sign a new contract.

He spent five years as an Atletico Madrid player following his €24m move from fellow Spanish La Liga club Real Sociedad in 2014.

Griezmann scored 50 goals and also provided 25 assists for Atletico Madrid in his last two seasons with the club.

Upon his signing, Barcelona confirmed that their new signing has a release clause of €800m in his contract.

His official unveiling will take place on Sunday at the Nou Camp.

Antoine Griezmann will link up with the likes of Luis Suarez and star player Lionel Messi at Barcelona with the trio expected to form a deadly front trio ahead of the new season which kicks off next month.
