According to reports, Chelsea and Manchester United have both been scouting Germany and Augsburg star Philipp Max.

This is as per a report by Daily Mail, who claim that both sides were keeping a close tab on the 24-year-old during his “outstanding” display against Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin last weekend, with the player’s display impressing fans.

Both clubs are also said to be in for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, so it’s crystal clear to see that the duo id in the transfer market for a new left-full back.

Since joining Augsburg, Phillip Max has performed well for the German Bundesliga side, with the player impressing with his high level of performances.

Since playing his first game for the club, he has, so far, been able to score two goals and made 11 assists, a good return considering his relatively young age.

Despite not making his full club debut yet, Max has played for his national team at senior level, as the young defender played three matches and netted once for Germany’s Olympic side during the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

Both United and Chelsea are in need serious need of defensive cover on their left side, with Luke Shaw’s injury issues and Daley Blind’s relative old age, as well as that fact that Spaniard Marcos Alonso is prone to one mistake or the other, has seen the two sides keep tab on a new left-back.
