Legend Drums Up Payet To Manchester United Transfer

Manchester United legend and former club goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel would like to see West Ham United star and Frenchman Dmitri Payet, who has scored just one goal in 12 appearances this season for his London side, at the club.

Schmeichel made this known in a chat with AM Soccer while discussing the 20-time English champions’ disappointing start to the current season. Schmeichel, who was a former Danish international said: “He’s a Manchester United-type player, for sure.”

‘I think Mourinho has to change his way a little bit to please the fans, the club and the traditions of the club. I think he is showing signs of that, the players that he is signing, they are of a different calibre.

‘Zlatan Ibrahimovic is someone he probably wouldn’t have signed had he been at Chelsea, but he’s United’s kind of player, the kind the supporters like to see. He’s rewarding us with great skills and great goals – I think he has scored seven goals so far.” he further added.

Media reports earlier this week revealed that Payet would be able to leave West Ham United for just £15m if Slaven Bilic’s side suffer relegation. According to the Times, there is a relegation clause in Payet’s present contract with West Ham United, who are currently struggling in the relegation zone ahead of their away clash with Liverpool on Sunday.
