Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has confirmed the Blues interest in Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson few weeks before the winter transfer window reopens.
The current Blues’ assistant manager spoke about Callum Wilson during his pre-match thoughts ahead of the Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash with Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
Chelsea took on the South Coast club at Stamford Bridge with a place in the last four of the competition up for grabs.
According to Italian tactician Zola, Callum Wilson is a quality striker and he’s a person of interest for Chelsea as well as the other clubs in the league (English top flight).
Recent reports claim that Chelsea will make a £30m bid for Callum Wilson though Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is adamant that the Cherries will retain the services of the English striker.
The 26-year-old recently became a full England international after making his debut for the Three Lions in the 3-0 win over the United States of America.
Wilson scored the third goal in the international friendly victory over the US.
He was rewarded with the England invitation following his good form for Bournemouth this season.
He has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 16 Premier League outings this term.
