Borussia Dortmund star player Sokratis Papastathopoulos has emerged as a target for both Chelsea and Arsenal this summer.
And according to new reports, the two Premier League clubs are weighing up moves for the defender in the summer transfer window.
The Greece center-back has made 155 appearances for his Bundesliga club since joining the German club back in 2013. However, he is being strongly linked with a move to the English top-flight ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Goal claims the 29-year-old has grown frustrated at Borussia Dortmund and this has put Chelsea and Arsenal on alert this summer.
Even though Antonio Conte and Arsene Wenger will be scouting the market for new defenders in the coming months, it is understood that none of the London clubs have made an official move for Sokratis.
Papastathopoulos, in a recent interview, admits he isn’t getting younger, and at this stage, he simply want to win titles. He isn’t winning the trophies at his club, with Bayern Munich being the major ones dominating.
It was added that Dortmund are however determined to keep hold of him, and so, a hefty bid might be what could persuade them to let go of the player.
The Greece international is tied into a contract at the Bundesliga giants until the summer of 2019.
