Man United star Chris Smalling has boasted to be ready to stop Argentina international and Barcelona star Lionel Messi when they clash on Wednesday night for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Messi remains a major threat to the Man United team with his fine form at the moment but Chris Smalling is of the opinion that the star player is stoppable just like others.
The Red Devils defender is of the opinion that he has been able to stop Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo in previous meetings in the competition and hopes to have a repetition of it when he meets the star player.
According to him, the club are ready to face the challenge as they hope to land a qualification to the semi-finals.
Messi is in great form at the moment and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored 43 goals in 40 games across all competitions this season which makes him one to fear.
He has been able to help his team in the La Liga challenge and there is no doubt about their ability to win it this season.
With the first leg expected to be played later on Wednesday at the Old Trafford, the scores would be settled by both teams later in Spain.
