Former Italian Serie A outfit Juventus central defender Mehdi Benatia would have been in the English Premier League at the moment playing for Man Chester United but he rejected the move.
From every indication, the Red Devils had reached an agreement with the Serie A champions for the star player but the decision to have the deal fail was that of the player.
This is after he revealed that he rejected the move on purpose to allow his children grow up in an “Islamic atmosphere”.
Mehdi Benatia currently plays in the Middle East after signing for Qatari side Al-Duhail in the last January window in a deal worth about £7 million as he was leaving Italy.
However, the Red Devils had tabled an offer for Mehdi Benatia with a deal of about £4 million a year, according to reports in Italy so as to solve their defensive issues.
Mehdi Benatia’s move to Qatar was criticized by fans and the media because he was expected to move to the club where he would be able to play active football and also remain in the Champions League but he dismissed all of the claims and stated that his move to the Middle East was for personal reasons.
