Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is adamant that his team will qualify for Champions League football via the league despite the defeat to Liverpool on Sunday evening.
Pochettino and Spurs saw their top-four hopes diminish at Anfield against the Reds following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of title-chasers Liverpool.
The result made it four defeats in five Premier League games for the North London club.
Tottenham Hotspur were initially in the picture for the title until the recent run of poor results.
In his post-match reaction to the Liverpool defeat, Pochettino said that Spurs are still in control of their destiny as far as securing a top-four spot at the end of the season is concerned.
Spurs were close to getting a well deserved point against Liverpool before the goalkeeping error from Hugo Lloris.
Liverpool had taken the lead through Roberto Firmino in the first half before Spurs forward Lucas Moura levelled proceedings for the visitors.
With seven games left to play, Tottenham Hotspur still occupy the third spot on the table despite the defeat to Liverpool.
Liverpool and Manchester City are almost certain about playing Champions League football next season while Tottenham Hotspur have to fight with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United for the final two slots.
