Benfica goalkeeper Ederson has confirmed that he is leaving the Portuguese giants this summer amid heavy speculation over his future (according to metro).
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from Portugal this summer with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City believed to be keen on landing the keeper for a huge transfer deal.
It is understood that United boss Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of the young keeper, having watched him in between the sticks for Benfica and is keen on signing an ideal replacement for David De Gea, who has been tipped to leave the Old Trafford this summer in favor of a move to Real Madrid.
However, Mourinho will have to rival Pep Guardiola who is also looking for a number one next season, after getting dissatisfied with the performances of Willy Caballero and Claudio Bravo last season.
Speaking ahead of their game against Vitoria, the Brazilian keeper said the game is ‘probably my last game for Benfica’.
Benfica boss, Rui Vitoria also hinted at a potential exit and could spark a bidding war between the two Manchester clubs, he said: ‘If Ederson leaves, he leaves with the gratitude of Benfica. He will always carry Benfica’s name everywhere.’
Reports in Record claim that Manchester City has tabled an offer of £45million for Ederson and could complete a deal ahead of Manchester United.
