Manchester United have launched a £35 million bid for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic after being told they can get him for £50 million, according to reports.
United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to splash the cash on a central midfielder this summer after signing Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku, with reports that the Portuguese is planning of allowing Paul Pogba to roam more next season.
Matic has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford after becoming surplus to requirement at Chelsea with the arrival of Tiemoue Bakayoko who is a like for like change in the midfield.
The midfielder is believed to be open to a reunion with his former boss Jose Mourinho brought back to Chelsea during his second stint at Stamford Bridge in which Matic was an integral part of.
Prior reports suggested that Chelsea are blocking the move due Manchester United transfer deal for Romelu Lukaku who was linked with a Blues return for most part of this window before joining the Red Devils instead.
However, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has now sanctioned a deal for Matic to leave the club for £50 million but reports in Daily Mirror have it that United have only made a bid of £35 million for the midfielder.
