Three-time European champions Manchester United are said to be in talks to sign former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho from Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona.
According to the publication from the Daily Express, the Red Devils want to sign the Brazilian international player in a deal worth at least £100m.
Coutinho, 26, has not been able to nail down a starting place in the Barcelona squad since he signed for the Catalans during last January’s transfer window.
The Barcelona transfer made him the third most expensive player behind the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) forward duo of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
The Philippe Coutinho transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona was completed for a fee believed to be around £142m.
Barcelona fans expected more from the Brazilian in what is his first full season as a player of the club but the former Inter Milan star has not lived up to their expectations.
Coutinho has not been able to replicate his form for Brazil at last summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia in the colours of Barcelona.
On a possible Barcelona exit, club director Guillermo Amor shot those rumours down as he revealed that Coutinho remains an integral part of the team.
