Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is confident that Jurgen Klopp’s squad will continue to have success against their direct rivals
After Sunday afternoon’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford, Carragher thinks his former club are suited to playing against their title rivals.
Liverpool got the first-half lead through a powerful penalty kick from assistant captain James Milner after the midfielder steered a powerful shot past United goalkeeper David De Gea following Pogba’s handball.
Unfortunately, Klopps men couldn’t hold on for three points after huge Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a header with just six minutes remaining at Old Trafford on that Sunday afternoon.
Since Klopp took over the mantle of leadership at Anfield back in October, Liverpool are unbeaten against the top teams which includes Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
After the Reds 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, Carragher highlighted Klopp’s excellent record against the top five clubs this season so far.
“Top teams play from the back so it’s ideal for Jurgen because they are very rarely going to go direct. Liverpool have caused [more] problems when they’re playing teams further down the league.” Carragher told Sky Sports.
Liverpool are now third in the Premier League table, leveled with second-placed Tottenham and seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
