Five-time European champions Liverpool are in a two-horse race in their quest to sign wantaway PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot according to reports emanating from the Spanish media.
Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona were initially the front-runners to sign the talented French international player but their interest has waned in recent weeks after failing to agree to a free transfer deal for him.
Mundo Deportivo revealed that the player won’t be joining Barcelona before the transfer window shuts on Thursday but the Spaniards would welcome a summer move for him.
According to another Spanish media portal Sport, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are the only clubs that have shown an interest in signing Adrien Rabiot before the end of this winter transfer window.
Adrien Rabiot is a wanted man especially amongst the Premier League clubs with the player expected to leave PSG at the end of his contract this summer.
The 23-year-old has already told senior officials at the French capital club that he wants to leave at the end of this campaign but PSG favour a January transfer which will give them some money in comparison to a free transfer move for the player in the summer.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are his likely destination if Rabiot leaves PSG this month.
