Reports claim that Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is close to signing a new deal with Arsenal. French publication L’Equipe reports that the contract of the defender will come to an end in the summer but it is expected that the French international defender will not hesitate to sign a new deal and commit his future to the London club.
The 31-year-old defender joined Arsenal from French club Lorient in 2010 and has gone on to become an established player at the Emirates. With a lot of superb performances for the club, Arsenal will be willing to tie down the defender to a deal for a long time and reports claim that there is a deal in place to keep Koscielny at the club till 2020.
With his current deal set to expire at the end of the season the defender is interested in extending his stay at the Emirates and possibly see out his career at the club.
Koscielny in the past had spoken about his future at the club, he said
”My future? I work really well at the club, and they are also happy with my work so I don’t see why there would be a reason to leave. Desire to travel? It is always possible, but at the moment I haven’t bought a plane ticket.”
Few weeks ago Koscielny had been linked to a move to Germany to join Bayern Munich but those rumors seem to have been put to rest as the French international seems settled at the Emirates.
The new deal with the defender could be declared before the champions league match on Wednesday against PSG.
