Former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole will sign for English Championship side Derby County on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
This is according to the publication from the popular English media portal Daily Telegraph.
It was revealed that the ex-England international left-back will undergo a medical at the weekend before putting pen to paper on a contract with the Rams on Monday.
Ashley Cole has been a free agent since he was released by Major League Soccer (MLS) side LA Galaxy towards the end of last year.
The 38-year-old is a Premier League legend who played with distinction for both Arsenal and Chelsea before leaving England for Italian top flight side AS Roma.
Ashley Cole came through the ranks at Arsenal before making his debut for the Gunners and was part of the famed Invincibles that went through the 2003/04 season without a single defeat.
He was previously linked with Championship side Aston Villa but the Englishman has settled for Derby County where he’ll link up with former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard.
Ex-Three Lions of England midfielder Lampard is the Derby County manager having been appointed at the start of this season.
He has led the Rams to the top six on the English Championship table as he tried to mastermind a possible promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
