Speaking after his side’s 4-2 victory over their arch-rivals Tottenham, Arsenal manager Unai Emery made a big claim when he said that the Gunners are on the same page with the Blues and Tottenham.
The Gunners boss didn’t just stop at that, he confirmed his assertion by saying “that’s the reality”
Is that’s really the reality?
Looking at what the Blues have achieved in recent years, you could be forced to say Emery didn’t mean what he said.
The Blues won two Premier League titles in three seasons before adding an FA Cup Victory last season. All of these achievements made Emery’s claim a baseless one.
Though the Gunners won FA Cup glory two seasons ago under Arsene Wenger, they are far behind the Blues in term of trophies and accolades.
Having said that, this season has been a very great one for both teams and I believe Emery is only talking base on their respective performances so far this season.
The Blues started the campaign with a win against Arsenal and went on to play 12 matches without defeat.
As for the Gunners, after their defeat to Chelsea, the North London club were narrowly defeated by Manchester City in the second match of the season.
Since their defeat to the Citizens, the Gunners have failed to lose a game in all competitions, recording 19-match unbeaten run.
Comparing what both clubs have achieved so far this season, Emery is definitely right to say his team are on the same page with Chelsea and Tottenham.
The Blues are just three points ahead of the Gunners at the third position. They’ve scored massive 28 goals so far and they have conceded 11 goals.
Emery’s men are fourth on the log with 30 points from 14 matches. They are on equal points with Tottenham but lead with superior goal difference.
The Gunners have found the back of the net in 31 different occasions so far this season, while, Bernd and Petr Cech have allowed 18 goals to get past them.
Prior to Sunday’s clash against the Gunners, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino controversially said Chelsea are the only London club capable of wreaking havoc to his team.
After the fierce contest against Arsenal, the Emirates outfits made the Argentine manager swallow his words as they thrashed his men.
In terms of trophies, the Red part of North London have a great lead over the Lilywhites, who haven’t lay hands on any trophy since 2010.
Statistically, the North London club are equal with their two rivals but that should make Emery feel relent in his desire to lead the club to a new and higher height before the ending of the season
