Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho stated that he will still give Memphis Depay more opportunities to impress if the player decide staying at the Old Trafford club this month.

In recent times, Depay has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford exit in the ongoing winter transfer window. Teams like Nice and Everton have already publicly declared their interest in the 22-year old.

Jose Mourinho claimed the Dutchman would not be considered for the first-team while there are still some doubts over his future at United. He was also left out of the United squad that faced Reading in the FA Cup tie on Saturday.

The Portuguese tactician, speaking about the issue, insisted that there will be chances for him, but only if he agrees to stay.

“I was informed by the club that there is a chance Memphis could leave,” he commented

“From a human point of view, I cannot stop him from leaving when he is not playing under me.

“If he is staying, I would be more than happy because he is a fantastic guy and a very good player. I feel so sorry that I am not giving him opportunities to play. A player of his age needs to be playing matches.

“If he stays with me, for sure, he will play some games because we have so many matches.”

Even though since Mourinho has collected the baton as United’s boss, he hasn’t feature Memphis much. But it seem as if Mourinho has offered him a way out if he should decide to stay past this month.

Actually, Depay is an exceptional talent. Even though he hasn’t been able to find his best level at United, we hope he can quickly adapt to life in the Premier League after given the chance.
