Arsenal goalkeeper, Petr Cech has explained the difference between Unai Emery’s style of play and that of his predecessor, Arsene Wenger.
Emery took over as Arsenal manager at the summer after the end of 22-year reign of Arsene Wenger at the club.
The Spaniard had introduced a pressing style of football which demands the players running all through 90 minutes.
The former Chelsea keeper explained that Unai’s philosophy is to use the ball, is to use the ball, use possession with creativity but with a lot of structure as well.
He stated that the in Wenger’s style, you have freedom but with not too much structure as players are usually express their freedom on the pitch.
Emery with the same playing style won the French domestic treble at Paris Saint-Germain and three Europa League titles at Sevilla.
Cech stated that the Coach is a professional who is working hard to replicate his past success at the Emirates Stadium and has demanded the players to be on top of their game to achieve that.
He added that adapting to Emery’s style will not be a problem as he had 11 different managers in 11 years in his spell at his former club. The situation is obviously not new to him.
