Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has disclosed exclusively how he would be approaching the January transfer window with the market set to open in two and a half weeks despite the fact there is uncertainty at the North London club due to the fact that head of recruitment Paul Mitchell has already served a 16-month notice period for the club to find a successor for him when he eventually leaves his post.

Speaking on the transfer window, Pochettino said: “It’s not about money, it’s how you invest the money.”

“The market is crazy. You can see how the value of players has increased. You need to be clever. You need to be imaginative and creative and try to fight for good players at a very good price.

“When you’re building a stadium you are not only focused to improve the team — at the same time you’re spending money to create a massive stadium which will be one of the best stadiums in Europe.

“With the new stadium Tottenham will be one of the best teams in the world, for sure. But now we need to be creative. The challenge is to be clever and to take risks.”
Argentine boss Mauricio Pochettino has led his team to fifth place with 27 points from 15 games ahead of their clash with Hull City at the White Hart Lane and are presently 10 points away from league leaders Chelsea.
