Manchester United and Spanish playmaker could not hide his joy after his side booked their place in the semi-final of the EFL Cup after a dominant win over London club West Ham United.
Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic and French forward Anthony Martial scored twice as Jose Mourinho’s team ran out 4-1 winners despite the fact that the Portuguese manager was absent due to a one-match ban he got for kicking a water bottle in frustration during an earlier clash between the two sides on Sunday evening.
The match turned out to be a stroll eventually for Manchester United especially in the second half, which saw three unreplied goals for the Red Devils (2 goals for Ibrahimovic and 1 goal for Martial) as they bounced back from former United youngster Ashley Fletcher’s equaliser just before halftime after Martial had given his side the lead.
The latest win is a welcome relief for Jose Mourinho and his players, players, have been under immense pressure following a wretched run of just one win in seven English Premier League (EPL) games and this was further highlighted by Juan Mata’s post on social media (Instagram) as seen below:
“Great win boys!! @manchesterunited with @chapecoensereal”
All attention will now shift to the team’s EPL clash with Everton on Sunday as they bid to arrest their poor run of results.
