Former Chelsea defender John Terry is in line to become the new manager at English Championship club Middlesbrough according to widespread reports coming out of the British media.

John Terry is a Chelsea legend and the former England national team skipper is the assistant manager of Championship club Aston Villa at the moment.

According to British media outlet TalkSport, John Terry is in talks with Middlesbrough officials over the vacant managerial job.

Middlesbrough are looking for a new manager after former boss Tony Pulis left the club in the summer upon the expiration of his contract.

Tony Pulis was unable to lead the West Midlands club to the Championship Playoffs after Boro finished in seventh spot and one place outside the playoff positions (3rd to 6th).

While Pulis and Boro missed out on the chance to gain Premier League promotion via the playoffs, John Terry and Aston Villa were in the finals.

Aston Villa will face Derby County in the final of the Championship Playoffs to determine who will secure a spot in the Premier League next season.

John Terry is the assistant manager to Aston Villa boss Dean Smith and both managers would be hoping to plot a Premier League return for the club at the expense of Derby County.
