Manchester United have open talks with Bayern Munich over the availability of their defender Jerome Boateng, according to reports.
The German centre-back has been tipped to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, over his lack of opportunities with the Bundesliga Champions, with reports that few clubs in Europe are already getting set to swoop for his signature.
Jose Mourinho has remained keen on getting new faces to his squad before the end of the summer window, and several names have been linked with an Old Trafford move, with most of them being defenders.
Having lost out in the race to sign Yerry Mina, reports in reliable German outlet, Bild have it that Manchester United have now turned their attention to signing Jerome Boateng who is now deemed surplus to requirements at Allianz Arena.
However, what remains yet to be known is whether United will stump up £45 million to sign Boateng having pulled out of the race to sign Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld due to their asking prices.
There are speculations that United will face competition from Arsenal who have also contacted the player over a move to the Emirates, as Unai Emery plans to add more steel to his squad as the summer window closes.
Bayern Munich has also confirmed that there has been contact from Paris Saint Germain who might wait out the deal until after the Premier League transfer shuts in four days time.
