Southampton star player Virgil Van Dijk was heavily linked with a move away from St Mary’s during the past summer transfer window after he emerged as a target for Liverpool. However, a move couldn’t see the light of the day before the closure of the window.
But according to new reports circulating in the media about the Dutchman, the Merseyside club are said to have finally agreed on a fee for the defender, and he will join Liverpool this January.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were said to be reluctant to pay the £70M Southampton were demanding for the player, but have decided to press the Saints further. And right now, it was made known that a payment plan that suits both clubs have been agreed.
The reds are said to have eventually achieved success and have agreed to a deal close to €78M with the Saints, but won’t be paying it all at once.
Van Dijk is currently one of the best central defenders in England and will definitely improve Jurgen Klopp’s back line if he should make a move.
If he should become a Liverpool player this January, he will be eligible to play for the reds in the Champions League.
Klopp has one of the best attacks in the premier league, but his back side should definitely get reinforced.
