Manchester United’s hopes of signing Radja Nainggolan have been dashed after the midfielder signed a new four-year deal with Roma.
The 29-year-old has been tipped to make a move away from the Italian giants since last summer, as a host of clubs have contacted the midfielder over a possible move.
Earlier this summer, Manchester United were said to have held talks with the players over a move while Chelsea also vied for his signature before they signed Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Mourinho is understood to have spoken with the Belgian midfielder over moving to the Old Trafford as the player also fuelled the move by hinting he was not clear about his future in Rome.
Nainggolan who arrived at Roma three seasons ago, has been an integral part of the side, making 161 appearances for them.
The player has now dashed the hopes of Manchester United in securing a deal for him this window by penning a new four-year deal that will see him remain at the club till 2021,meaning he might end his career at Roma.
After signing the deal, Naingglolan told the club’s official website: “I think I have demonstrated that this is what I always wanted,
“So I’m very happy, especially that the club and I can continue our adventure and move forward together.”
