Arsenal maintained their wonderful run of form as they pipped Huddersfield Town by a lone goal, thanks to Lucas Torreira’s brilliant overhead kick.
The Gunners were far from impressive in the opening half of the encounter as they hardly created a meaningful goalscoring chance throughout.
Calls for Lacazette’s inclusion in the starting lineup
After coming off the substitute bench to find the back of the net against Tottenham and Manchester United respectively, Arsenal fans couldn’t help but call on Unai Emery to start the Frenchman in yesterday’s clash with Huddersfield.
The North London faithfuls were obsessed with Lacazette’s recent goalscoring record and they want to see him feature alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Saturday(yesterday)
Despite praising Emery’s effects on the general performance of the team, they were hoping to see the manager make some changes to his starting XI prior to their clash with Huddersfield.
Gentle Emery gave fans what they wanted
After facing much criticism from Emery over Lacazette’s exclusion from his starting XI in recent weeks, the former Sevilla and PSG manager decided to dance to the fans’ tune.
He listed the 27-year-old is his first eleven, even if it was against his will. The Spanish manager dropped Alex Iwobi from his starting lineup – for the first time in three matches – so as to give the Frenchman the chance to show if he’s capable of starting subsequent games.
Seeing is believing – Lacazette is nothing but super-sub
Just as wanted by the Gunners fans, Lacazette was in the game from the start, partnering the former Borussia Dortmund’s striker at the frontline.
He was found wanting in his duty as he couldn’t register a single shot on goal throughout his stay on the pitch.
His presence wasn’t felt on the pitch, instead, he made Aubameyang became less inspiring and active.
After 45 minutes of running around without a positive result, Emery didn’t think twice before he hauled him off the pitch during the mid-way break.
He introduced Alex Iwobi in his place and there was a bit of organization and determination in the team’s attacking movements.
Emery is finally justified
As a manager, who has won three Europa League glory in his managerial career, Emery is expected to know his players and how to use them for positive results.
Most of Lacazette’s goal so far this season were scored in the second half, hence, it is of no use startling the Frenchman.
Emery is a manager who is brave enough to make changes as at when due, he will definitely bring the best out of his players, whether they start or not.
There is no reason questioning Emery’s decisions over his regular players, he knows his players and he should be given the freedom to make better choices for the team. As long as good results keep coming, it’s better to support the former Sevilla manager rather than criticizing him.
