Former Liverpool skipper and club legend Steven Gerrard has been linked with a return to his boyhood club in a coaching capacity rather than as a playing personnel.
Gerrard, who left the 18-time English champions in the summer of 2015 to join LA Galaxy in the Major League Soccer (MLS), recently announced his retirement from football after the expiration of his contract with his American side.
The former England captain is highly thought of by Liverpool fans after his hugely successful career with the Reds as he made more than 700 appearances for the team winning 9 trophies including the sensational UEFA Champions League (UCL) triumph in 2005 against AC Milan, which saw the team come from a 3-0 halftime deficit to level scores (3-3) and triumph on penalties as inspired by the Steven Gerrard.
The 36-year old has publicly talked about taking up a new career in coaching however he recently turned down the chance to manage English League One side MK Dons amidst reports of a return to Anfield and he might get his spot on the Liverpool coaching crew under boss Jurgen Klopp quicker than expected.
Liverpool’s U23 head coach, Michael Beale, is expected to take up a role at Brazilian side Sao Paulo leading to a backroom reshuffle at the Anfield giants and a possible return to his beloved club for Gerrard.
