With Jose Mourinho keen on improving his defense strength come January, the red devils are keeping tab on outstanding players around the globe. One of the defenders who have been linked for a move is Southampton centre-half Jose Fonte.
32-year old Fonte earlier this week fueled the speculation when he announced Southampton’s decision to not offer him a new contract.
However, talented Southampton midfielder Steven Davis said he is not worried about United’s pursuit of Jose Fonte. Davis said his club are used to losing high-profile players in recent seasons and he is very confident that Manchester United’s interest in Fonte will have no affect on the squad.
“We are well used to it by now. In my time here we have sold a lot of players, a lot of big players, and it shows we are doing things the right way,” he said.
Davis thinks Jose Fonte exit rumours will not affect Southampton players.
“It can only be taken as a positive that other teams are interested in players. I know we have a lot of quality in the dressing room and I’d be surprised if other teams weren’t looking at us.
“We all know what the club means to Jose and what Jose means to the club. He obviously has a personal situation there which has not been discussed in the dressing room.
“He’s the same character, he’s doing his best in training every day and pushing the team on and that’ll not change.”
Southampton FC in recent windows have lost the players like Sadio Mane, Victor Wanyama, Morgan Schneiderlin, Nathaniel Clyne, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren.

![Not many Liverpool fans are aware of a player called Armin Hodzic - and that is understandable. Armin Hodzic is a player Liverpool signed from Željezničar in May 2011. He stayed on Liverpool’s books until his contract ended back then in 2014 - including him taking a loan spell back at his previous club Željezničar. Since he was not able to breakthrough at Liverpool, the striker was forced to search for a new club and was taken up by Dinamo Zagreb. The 22-year-old is now a full international for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Hodzic is progressing well at Dinamo and has been speaking to Croatian newspaper Vecernji List. He was asked what advice he would give to a 17 year old with an offer from Liverpool ( basically what advice would he give his former self) His response sounds like he enjoyed his time with the Reds, and still has a lot of respect for the premier league club. He first of all attested to the fact that it is not quite easy to leave your family when young, but he would advice youngsters to remain focused on the pitch. “And it is above all always an honour to receive [an] invitation from a great club. It was one of the happier times in [my] life when I was in Liverpool, surely that situation helps to [you] develop as a person and as a player.” He certainly sounds like he doesn’t regret his time at The Anfield club even if he wasn’t able to make the breakthrough.](https://234sport.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/armin-hodzic-768x432.jpg)
