It is well known that Chelsea last-season top scorer Diego Costa is destined to move away from Chelsea before the commencement of the upcoming campaign.
And Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has admitted that he made the decision to sell the huge striker as far back as the January transfer window when the Spaniard was linked with a move to the Chinese Super League
Costa is widely expected to complete a move back to his former Spanish club Atletico Madrid this summer after being sold by the Madrid club three years ago to Chelsea.
And the Spain international has been a success at Stamford Bridge, helping them win two Premier League titles in three seasons and scoring a total of 59 goals in 120 games.
However, he has never fully settled in the English capital and now that Chelsea have agreed a move for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata up front, Costa is now very certain to leave the club.
And Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that he has long decided that Costa is not in his future plans for the blues.
‘The only thing I can tell you is that in January the Costa situation was very clear for the club, for him and his agent (Jorge Mendes). For me the situation is closed,’ Antonio said.
The Italian manager informed Diego via a text message at the end of last season that he is not part of his plans at Stamford Bridge next season and the player was the one who personally revealed it to the press while on international duty.
