Fenerbahce have confirmed they have entered negotiations with to sign Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel.
The centre-back signed for £6.5million back in January 2008 from Russian club Zenit St Petersburg and has made 320 appearances for the club over six years, scoring 18 goals.
He was part of the Liverpool side that won the League Cup back in 2012, when he scored in the final against Cardiff City.
The Slovakian was phased out as the club’s starting central defender under Jurgen Klopp last season, but still made the Xi on 21 occasions in an injury-hit campaign for the Reds.
Fenerbahce confirmed that they had entered talks with the Premier League side with regards to signing the 31-year-old this summer, but that his involvement with Slovakia at Euro 2016 was holding up the deal.

The Turkish club have now stated on their official website that talks with begin with Skrtel, and a move is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
This comes after a post on the player’s Instagram profile before the Euros in which he admitted his future was not clear.
“Getting ready for the big one on Monday,” he posted.
“There were lots of rumours going around about my future so just to let you know there is nothing decided yet.”
