Metz midfielder Victorien Angban has joined the French Ligue 2 club permanently in a transfer believed to be around €6m.
Ivorian international star Angban was initially on loan at Metz from West London giants Chelsea before the deal was made permanent after Metz secured promotion to the top flight of French football.
Angban and Metz will campaign in the French Ligue 1 next season after the club earned one of the two automatic promotions spots in French Ligue 2.
Metz sealed a promotion spot with the 2-1 away win over Red Star.
The clause in Victorien Angban’s loan move from Chelsea to Metz stated that the transfer will be made permanent for €6m.
Angban was one of the 42 Chelsea loan army but that number has been reduced to 41 as a result of the new development.
The 22-year-old leaves Chelsea permanently after four years at the club.
The Ivorian midfielder was not able to secure a spot in the Chelsea team since joining in 2015.
He has made seven appearances for two-time African champions Ivory Coast and he was part of the Ivorian national team squad to the 2017 African Cup of Nations tournament.
The AFCON tournament was won by the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon who beat Egypt 2-1 in their final clash.
