Chelsea legend Claude Makelele has advised midfielder N’Golo Kante to make a crucial change to his game so as to avoid potential burnout.
N’Golo has grown into one of the most important players at Stamford Bridge following his move to the club from Leicester City last summer. The Frenchman successfully won the premier league title back-to-back for two different clubs, and he was crowned the PFA Footballer of the Year last year.
The France international has started all of Chelsea’s top flight matches so far this campaign and partnering with Tiemoue Bakayoko, Cesc Fabregas and David Luiz in the center of the park.
And former Chelsea midfielder Makelele is of the opinion that Kante should strive to make one important change to his game if he is to remain a blue mainstay.
Speaking to Goal, Makelele showered accolades on Kante, regarding him as a good player who is clever, very serious, who plays for his partners, and can’t be easily replaced.
However, Makelele believes it will be difficult for the French star when he gets older as he can’t continue running the way he does for 90 minutes.
“I think Kante will one day need to change the way he plays. He could use intelligence even more [and] be selective about his runs. It is [very] mportant for Kante to understand to conserve his energy.”
