2012 Champions League winners Chelsea have been handed a major transfer blow in their quest to sign highly-rated Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic after it was revealed that the player plans to stay at his current club beyond this summer.
Serbian international Jovic is presently on a two-year loan deal at Eintracht Frankfurt from Portuguese club Benfica and the German Bundesliga outfit have an agreement in place to sign him for just €3.5m at the end of his loan spell this summer.
His form for Eintracht Frankfurt this season has attracted the interest of several clubs on the European scene including West London giants Chelsea but the interested teams might need to wait for a while after the latest update from his father.
He has scored 23 goals in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt this season.
Milan Jovic, a former player, told German newspaper Bild that his son wants to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt before adding that he wants to help the Europa League campaigners qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Frankfurt are in a fantastic position to qualify for Champions League football next season with the club currently in the top four on the German Bundesliga table.
In addition, Eintracht Frankfurt are in the quarterfinals of the Europa League with a two-legged tie with Luka Jovic’s parent club Benfica expected this month.
