Champions League: Liverpool Won’t Underrate FC Porto

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the Reds won’t underrate their next Champions League opponents FC Porto whom they meet over two legs in the next 10 days.

Klopp and Liverpool play host to FC Porto in their Champions League quarterfinal tie first leg clash at Anfield on Tuesday night before the return leg in Portugal on April 17.

Ahead of Tuesday’s first leg, the Liverpool manager told reporters that his players won’t lack motivation for the FC Porto before adding that it’s only their second season in the Champions League unlike clubs like Real Madrid who can afford to relax after three successive Champions League title triumphs.

Klopp and his players would be hoping to go one better than last year when they reached the final of the competition before being beaten 3-1 by eventual champions Real Madrid.

Liverpool saw off German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich 3-1 on aggregate in their last 16 tie while FC Porto beat 4-3 on aggregate to secure a quarterfinal place.

The Reds warmed up for the Champions League home game vs FC Porto with a comeback win over Southampton on Friday night.

The win over the Saints was enough to take Liverpool to the Premier League summit at the expense of rivals Manchester City.
