Chelsea are interested in bringing Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez to the Stamford Bridge.
Reports in the German publication Bild claim that the former Manchester United striker could stage a return to the Premier League with Chelsea being his likely destination.
It is believed that Antonio Conte has been backed by Blues owner Roman Abramovich to bring reinforcements during the January transfer window and the Italian has highlighted the Mexican forward as one of his targets due to his impressive goal scoring rate in the Bundesliga.
Conte’s decision not to start Michy Batshuayi in their last game against Bournenmouth on Boxing Day has sparked rumours that the Blues boss does not trust the 23-year-old to lead his attack, although the Italian stated otherwise during his post match conference.
However, a move for Chicharito will mean that Conte is considering a more experienced centre-forward which could also see Batshuayi leave the Stamford Bridge on loan in search of more playing time.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho also recently hailed the qualities of the 28-year-old and admitted he would never had sold him if he had been in charge at United at the time the striker left.
It is understood that Leverkusen will listen to offers for Chicharito who scored 26 goals last season and as quoted a sum of £34m which a host of Premier League clubs can afford to shed.

Chitarito is one of the most under rated players I have come across.He is a permanent fixture in the opponent's 18 yard box without being offside. He is dangerous with both feet and the head in the vital area. It was a big shock that Man U had to let such an asset leave. Chelsea will do to itself a world of good to pounce at the chance and solve its striking problem. It is a must do deal. Whoever thought out this deal is a genius .Chelsea fc must go for Fernandez.
