Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona have reportedly dropped out of the scramble to sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner few days before the transfer window reopens.
This is according to the publication from Spanish news outlet Sport which claimed that the five-time European champions are no longer interested in signing the German international player.
It was further revealed that the 22-year-old is still being courted by clubs like Liverpool and German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Timo Werner is in the form of his life for RB Leipzig and that has understandably attracted the attention of the football superpowers on the European scene.
He has done well to recover from a disappointing World Cup tournament where he failed to score or provide an assist for his country.
Werner and Germany failed to progress beyond the group stage at this summer’s edition in Russia.
The four-time world champions surprisingly finished bottom of Group F behind the likes of South Korea, Mexico and group winners Sweden.
It was a forgettable World Cup outing for Timo Werner who had earlier played a prominent role for the German team that won the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia at the expense of South American nation Chile whom they beat in the final.
