Alvaro Morata move to Manchester United edges nearer

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho still believes Real forward Alvaro Morata is the man to replace out of contract Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the Red Devils escalate their pursuit for the Spaniard, in spite of a £80m asking price. 

After the Swede legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic picked up a knee injury in the Europa League quarter-final first leg encounter with the Belgian side Anderlecht, reports have it that the red devils of Manchester will not extend his contract and are in the market for a long-term replacement for the 35 years old forward.

The Swede who was the leading scorer for Manchester United in the 2016/17 season with 28 goals will be a tough act to follow, but after a topsy-turvy campaign in front of goal United set to turn their attention to the former Juventus  marksman Morata, who as shown that he knows how to find the back of the net.

The player is thought to be enthusiastic about a move to the England, and if United CEO Ed Woodward can agree on a fee with Real, it’s believed that personal terms won’t be an issue.

Reports in the Spanish media say Morata’s representative, Juanma Lopez, held talks at the Bernabeu yesterday to attempt to arrange the player’s exit.

Hindering is Real’s £80m asking price for the player who scored 19 goals in 43 appearances last season.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane wants the former Juventus striker to remain at the club, but the player wants more game time, which Zidane can’t ensure.
