The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam, Edwin Van Der Sar, has dismissed possible January transfers for his players.
The former Manchester United shot stopper made this known in an interview monitored by popular English news outlet Daily Express.
Van Der Sar said that Ajax are in not desperate to sell their players and that there will be no major outgoings in the upcoming January transfer window.
The latest development from Ajax would come as a big blow to Premier League leaders Liverpool who are in the running to sign highly rated centre back Matthijs De Ligt.
The 19-year-old defender has been in sensational form for Ajax Amsterdam since he broke into the team.
His impressive outings have led to interests from the crème de la crème of European football including Liverpool.
The Reds will have to contend with other interested clubs like Italian Serie A champions Juventus, Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
Liverpool defender and Dutch international teammate Virgil Van Dijk has previously talked up De Ligt as a potential signing for the Reds.
£75m defender Van Dijk is the most expensive defender in the history of world football but a move for the aforementioned De Ligt could match or even surpass that transfer fee.
Liverpool made him the most expensive defender ever following his transfer from Southampton in January.
