Liverpool striker Divock Origi might have played his way onto a new deal at the club following his heroics against Spanish champions Barcelona in the Champions League.
According to the Daily Star, Liverpool will open contract talks with the Belgian international player who had previously been tipped to leave the club when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
Divock Origi came close to leaving the club last summer with Wolverhampton Wanderers interested but he ended up staying at Liverpool having just returned from a lean loan spell at German club VFL Wolfsburg.
The Belgian striker scored just six goals during his season-long loan deal at Wolfsburg in the last campaign.
Divock Origi will now stay at Liverpool beyond this summer in the wake of his impressive form against Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal tie.
Barcelona had won the leg 3-0 at the Nou Camp courtesy goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi (2) to put them in a fantastic position for a Champions League final spot but Liverpool had other ideas.
The Reds won the second leg in emphatic style via a 4-0 win to secure a 4-3 aggregate win over the Spanish champions.
Substitute Georginio Wijnaldum (2) and Divock Origi (2)scored the goals for the Premier League title chasers.
