Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the club won’t spend big on transfers this summer.
In his latest interview, Klopp told reporters that Liverpool do not have to spend a lot of money on players.
According to him, the Reds’ focus is to bring players together and develop them.
Liverpool splashed the sum of £140m on the duo of Alisson Becker and Virgil Van Dijk last year.
Dutch international centre back Van Dijk became the most expensive defender in world football after Liverpool paid Southampton a whopping sum of £75m to secure his transfer in January 2018.
The Reds then signed Alisson Becker from Italian Serie A giants AS Roma for around £65m in July 2018.
Alisson was the world’s most expensive goalkeeper when Liverpool signed him but he only held the record for just four days.
He was replaced by Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga whom the Blues spent £71m to secure his transfer from Spanish La Liga club Athletic Bilbao.
Alisson Becker and Virgil Van Dijk have been a major part of the Reds’ impressive run in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Liverpool also signed Fabinho from French club AS Monaco for £39m and Naby Keita from RB Leipzig for £48m last summer.
Fabinho and Naby Keita have also contributed their own quota to what’s turning out to be a successful season for Liverpool.
