20 games, 3 starts — Liverpool to end Ojo’s loan spell

Tipped as the ‘next Raheem Sterling’ some years ago, England youth international Sheyi Ojo is far from making such claim becoming a reality.

The 21-year-old attacker couldn’t lay claim for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s team despite playing a couple of games with the Reds first-team in the 2015-16 season.

After many loan spells, the Liverpool academy product joined Ligue 1 newbies Reims prior to the start of the season, hoping to re-launch his career once more.

However, things are more difficult – than expected – for the youngster and he could see his loan deal terminated by Klopp before the end of the season.

The German manager always shows his displeasure whenever his youngsters who are sent out on loan are not seeing regular game-time and he didn’t mind calling Ojo back to Anfield.

He called Ben Woodburn back from his unsuccessful spell with Sheffield United. He did the same thing with Ovie Ejaria who failed to impress with Scottish side Rangers.

Liverpool Echo report on Sunday that the Reds are set to recall him from Reims before the end of the month.

According to the Merseyside media outlet, Klopp has charged the sporting director to find perfect club for the youngster where playing time will be guaranteed.

So far this season, Sheyi Ojo — who declared his readiness to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria — has played just 430 minutes of action in all competitions and has scored just a single goal.

Many Championship sides are reportedly keeping close watch on his situation with the relegation-threatened side.
