Defeat or no defeat : See why Chelsea remain title contenders

After their loss to Tottenham on Saturday, Stamford Bridge faithful are beginning to lose faith in the team.

Prior to the defeat at the hands of their London rivals, the fans were tipping their team for this season’s Premier League title, but since the unexpected loss to Tottenham, they seem to have lowered their expectations.

As much as it’s painful that Chelsea lost their unbeaten run in a dreadful manner, Sarri’s men are still title contenders for some reasons.

The season is still young

The season is just 13 weeks old, therefore, anything could still happen before the end of the campaign. Writing off the Blues in the race for the title after one defeat is totally wrong.

There are still 25 more matches to play, hence, the title race is still very much open to Chelsea, Arsenal Tottenham and Manchester United.

Sarri and his men must erase the mindset “we are not good enough to challenge for the trophy” and charge up for the remaining games.

The high rate of rejuvenated Players

Sarri’s arrival has brought many changes to the team. one of them is the rejuvenation of some players including Morata, Ross Barkley, David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger

Believe it or not, Alvaro Morata is a new player under Maurizio Sarri as he has shown more determination to win games than he did throughout last season.

The Spaniard is only experiencing a low level of confidence and once he overcome it, he would definitely justify his price tag.

As Ross Barkley, his Chelsea career was almost over as he was linked with a move out of Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer market.

Luckily, the Blues didn’t push through in their decision to let him as he is now a reborn player and he’s currently in great form.

Three goals in three games — prior to the defeat to Tottenham– was a testament that the player is really needed by the team

The former Everton star is currently in his best form which is good for Sarri and his team.

With recent changes taking place at Stamford Bridge, Sarri has many in-form players to turn to should his starting lineup begin to perform below par.

Sarri’s experience

Being a manager since 1991, Sarri has all the experience required to lead the Blues to this season’s League glory.

He was named Serie A manager of the year in his last season in Italy and that could be repeated at Stamford Bridge this season.

His tactical approach to the game and his relationship with his players is certainly going to help the team in their mission to lift the Premier League title for the second time in three seasons.
