Italian Serie A giants AS Roma have concluded plans to offer highly rated defender Kostas Manolas a new deal that will secure his long-term future at the Stadio Olimpico.
According to the report from popular Italian media portal Corriere Dello Sport, the Champions League campaigners are determined to offer the Greek international star a new contract in a bid to ward off the interests of several European heavyweights.
Kostas Manolas was an integral part of the Roma side that surprisingly reached the semifinals of last season’s Champions League before they were eliminated by Premier League giants Liverpool.
The report further claimed that Roma sporting director Monchi will soon offer the 27-year-old centre back a new deal to keep him off European sides like Chelsea, German champions Bayern Munich as well as Italian champions Juventus.
2018 English FA Cup winners Chelsea were linked with Manolas in the summer when new manager Maurizio Sarri replaced compatriot Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri left Napoli in the summer for Chelsea where he signed a three-year deal.
Nothing came out of the transfer rumours that linked him with a move from Italy to England alongside the aforementioned Sarri.
He has a release clause of €31.5m at the moment but the Italian capital club would be hoping to boost that by offering him a new contract.
