Phil Neville has explained how he was made to suffer some worries after signing for Everton.
Neville was made Toffees captain by boss David Moyes just one month after joining in a £3million deal in 2005 and it wasn’t pleasant enough to the fans.
But the fact that he was a Manchester United player made it difficult for the fans to accept him as their player despite putting on the club’s shirt.
He joined Everton after 15 years spell at Manchester United, picking up six Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League.
This might have prompted Moyes to making him the skipper but the fans would not see things that way as they tagged him ‘the teacher’s pet’.
Neville stressed his first days at the Goodison Park was tough especially when he attended a couple of United games that season and was seen on television.
This according to him adds to his worries as he felt not too good leaving a team he had spent 15 years with good memories that cannot be forgotten.
Coincidentally, Neville made his Premier League debut for Everton against United where he went head-to-head with Brother Gary.
It was also history for Gary and Phil in 2006 as they became the first siblings to captain their respective clubs against each other in the Premier League.
