Colombian international Yerry Mina has eventually found himself in England after finalising a deal with Everton before the end of this year’s summer transfer window.
The talented defender was heavily linked with a move away from Camp Nou for much of the summer, particularly after his impressive performance for his country during the World Cup in Russia.
He was linked with Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, as well as Everton and Leicester City – but he will be playing with the Toffees this season, following an official statement from Barca that a £28.5 million deal had been agreed between both sides.
Mina joined Barcelona last January but wasn’t able to make a reasonable mark at the club. The likes of Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique consistently blocked his chances of finding himself in the starting XI at Camp Nou.
Fortunately, his country participated in the World Cup at Russia, and he was able to prove his worth at the tournament.
After signing various players, it became glaring that Barcelona won’t play hardball over his signature. Both Manchester United and Everton were after his signature, but Jose Mourinho’s side were reportedly pissed off by his agent’s demands, giving Everton the chance to get their man.
The Merseyside club were in desperate need of a new centre-back before the start of the premier league campaign, and have successfully made Yerry put pen on paper for a five-year deal with them.
